The Chosen Knights (Secret Knights #1) By Mary Ting

But I can t hold on I m weak Lucia and Eli As a warm mist flows in the horizon we can see that the shade of white appears in the distance but as we envelope ourselves within it by getting closer the serenity of the mist becomes an awe The softness of the surroundings is a sight to be seen and felt as it gently kisses our skin Taking that into account within this read the whiteness of the mist can also appear to be a darkness that brings a shiver upon us but at the same time a feeling of completeness This is Lucia s and Eli s journey. Come take a journey like no other with Lucia and Eli along with their friends on this twisty turning.

I will not rate this one The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 Read my full review at an extraordinary read this was I enjoyed turning each magical page from beginning to end. The story line was mystical and magical There was so much that went on I was completely enchanted by this story Everything I thought was going to happen turned out wrong I love how the author spun this web and released the cobwebs to bring the WOW into the story I highly recommend it The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 When teens go missing in Hawaii.

10 Misty StarsI was given this book for my honest review. This is a spinoff to the Crossroads Saga and can be read as a stand alone I told you to keep it on at all times What do I have to do to make you listen to me It was Eli s voice My heart galloped like Midnight racing for the finish line Surely I was hallucinating but how did my necklace move by itself Was I delusional As if he could read my mind he spoke It s me Lucia I m here I m astral traveling back to the past to the current of today and the future of tomorrow Come and discover lands to which they have never seen or understood before all the while enveloping what was and what is to come Be sure to have your screaming blanket available along with your favorite ice cream that you will surely need to cool you off during this heated up read. To the author A normal review could not be done so leaving your readers with this is just the right amount of foggy mist enveloped in the darkest of night but with a subtle white glow. Happy Reading The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 I received an eARC of this book from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review. The Chosen Knights by Mary Ting is an urban fantasy lover s dream There are demons vampires angels and fallen angels all set to the back drop of high school in Hawaii What could you ask for If you are new to Mary Ting I highly recommend reading either The Angel Knights the prequel which will give you a little background to the world created by the author or go back to the beginning Crossroads the series that this one is based off Personally I haven t read Crossroads and am not lost so this series can be read as a standalone However I have every intention of reading them Lucia and Zachary are the nephilim children of Michael and Claudia raised to be demon hunters Venators They deny the human side of themselves pushing their emotions to the side Zac does this better than Lucia Lucia struggles and it s this struggle that drew me to her story Lucia and Zac are 17 have never been around humans and are now being thrust into the world of high school It s interesting to read how they adjust and even humorous when Lucia tries to reason out the use of unfamiliar slang which results in miscommunication. Lucia is easily likable She s loyal a fierce fighter and follows her heart which gets her into a lot of trouble Zac is what every brother should be He s her best friend her confidante and always has her back Uncle Davin Michael s best friend and their guardian while in Hawaii cracks me up He s like a big kid but fiercely protective of Zac and Lucia I love him Then there s the humans they meet or at least Lucia believes them human Eli is half demon and also the love interest I ll be honest I really had a hard time liking him He s rude pushes Lucia away at one instance and in the next is keeping a close eye on her I m not sure how I stand on my feelings for him. The plot revolves around the mysterious Cyrus who he is and what he wants I found myself completely absorbed in the paranormal world created by Mary Ting Between the mythology created by the author and the action I was hooked I loved the scenes between Eli and Lucia You never really know where either stands Are they enemies are they friends or are they And that ending. Overall I really enjoyed this book It s a great start to the series If you enjoy urban fantasy paranormal romance or enjoyed the Crossroads series I highly recommend grabbing a copy of this book asap The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 You can see this full review and at Book Briefs The Chosen Knights is the first book in the Angel Knights series by author Mary Ting However It was recommended to me to try the prequel novella The Angel Knights first Each of the books can be read on their own but I decided to read this series in order starting with The Angel Knights On one hand I was glad that I did It helped me get to know Lucia and Zachary a little better and since I didn t read the originating crossroads series this book helped me put all the pieces together for the crossover characters But on the other hand I didn t love the Angel Knights I found it to be a little simplistic and a lot rushed I didn t have the chance to connect with any of the characters But still I love the idea of The Chosen Knights which is the first full length book in the series and I wanted to see what Mary Ting could do with the characters in a full length novel so I decided to still give The Chosen Knights a try And I am really happy that I did I enjoyed The Chosen Knights a whole lot than the prequel I had of an opportunity to get to know Lucia and Zachary Lucia and Zachary Nephilim warriors or knights Being that they are part angel we get to see all kinds of cool abilities It has been ages since I have read a good Angels and Demons story so I was really excited to mix that in with Templar lore The Chosen Knights lived up to and exceeded my expectations after reading the prequel story The characters were fleshed out the plot line was intense and really interesting In fact the plot was my favorite part of the story I really enjoyed it and I can t wait to see where it is going to go next That is a little unusual for me since I am normally a character driven reader but Lucia fell short for me a few times She is very rash in her decisions and than once she races head first into a situation without really thinking it through I am really hoping to see some character growth in her in the next book Actually that would be super satisfying I love a good character journey throughout a series Bottom line If you are looking for an action adventure story with supernatural elements throughout and lots of fighting The Angel Knights series is for you especially if you enjoy stories about Angels and Demons Feel free to read the prequel first or not I don t think you will be lost if you start with The Chosen Knights and I certainly enjoyed the Chosen Knights a lot than the prequel But if you have read Mary Ting s crossroads series you might really enjoy The Angel Knights because it sets up the character overlap and gives the reader some good background into why the characters are placed where they are and who they are This was a good supernatural story and I can t wait to read the sequel which is already out This review was originally posted on Book Briefs The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 DNF 30%When I pick up a book with so many 5 stars ratings and raving reviews I expect a certain level of writing and character development and such. Sadly many times great ratings don t mean a great book I have to say the idea for this story was very attractive and I really wanted to like it The concept of angels protecting humans from demons fighting alongside other demons and supernatural beings is very interesting and should be highly entertaining I believe the biggest issue I had with this book was the first person narrative It didn t work at all Lucia s POV felt very choppy sentences were disconnected or just felt wrong She wasn t my shade of main character either She reminded me of Clary from The Mortal Instruments series in the sense that she always took this rush and stupid decisions that put her in unnecessary danger making others risk themselves to help save her It s always annoyed the hell out of me when characters keep doing that over and over I also felt she repeated herself a lot Lucia we know you are not supposed to have human feelings we understood that the first hundred times you thought about it After trying and failing to get into the story I decided to call it quits and just pick something else up Since I have not read enough to judge fairly a group of demon hunters half human and half angel disguised as high school students must leave Crossroads the place where they reside In a race against time they uncover the mystery connecting the missing teens which dates back to the era of the Knights Templar However when they discover one of the Templars passed down a book containing all the secrets and codes to finding a particular treasure they soon realize this forbidden treasure needs to be found before Cyrus the lord of the possessor demons acquires it a treasure which been safeguarded and hidden from him There is only one problem the pages containing the clues leading to the treasure is missing When the first page is found Cyrus threatens to kill descendants of the Knights Templar if it is not given to him by Friday the thirteenth In the midst of threats and discovery the demon hunting angels find they are not alone when supernatural beings begin to reveal themselves Can they put their differences aside and work together to solve the Knights Templars cipher As they astral travel to the past they witness a lot than they have bargained for And some things are better left unseen The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 ARC kindly provided by Mary Ting in exchange for an honest review Review The Chosen Knights is the first novel in the spinoff series The Angel Knights This is the second series which the author Mary Ting has written about the wonderful world of angels and demons set in Crossroads a place where Nephilim children reside If you re new to this author and or series you may want to start with the either the prequel The Angel Knights or go back to where it all began in the Crossroads Saga with Michael and Claudia father and mother to the two main protagonists of this series Lucia and Zachary. I was super hyped about receiving a reading copy of this novel Not only was this a continuation of a great series but it also starred some of my favourite fantastical creatures angels and demons The Chosen Knights is written in first point narration and follows the perspective of Lucia younger twin sister to Zachary I loved her due to her emotive capacity and empathy towards others She was strong and witty and loyal In other words my type of protagonist Reading from her point of view never bored me The beginning starts off with a bang I absolutely loved it It grabbed me and refused to let me go The reader gets a peak into awesome action straight away and gives such great detail and history to the future events in the novel The prologue was dark and dangerous and just exquisitely written. As this is this is the second young adult series by Mary Ting her writing style had seriously improved The wording has made the story easier to read due to its smoother style and much fluent There still remained a few sentences with slightly awkward unsure phrasing but overall there was a vast improvement The better writing SERIOUSLY also allowed for a deeper connection to the characters I as a reader find the character reader bond very important as that is what allows for a deep emotional understanding and connection which as a result makes the novel a bigger pleasure to read The emotive and imagery language used was spot on I felt every moment as if I was part of the story It was powerful and exhilarating Plot was very well thought through It kept you reading and DIEING to find out There was lots of tension and drama and anticipation It would call to you every single time you would put it down and refuse to be put down when you had to There were plot twists shocks and surprises galore Character development and variety was spectacular I couldn t believe how special and unique each and every one was From main characters to minor ones each had a personality rich in flaws traits and individual styles Each character would evolve and change overtime and as the plot progressed. If you re looking for something with a bit chemistry in it than your usual young adult novel then this is it I can t believe how charged some of the scenes were and how utterly swoon worthy the male characters Whew There were a few formatting issues in my reading copy such as unnecessary blank pages but there was one typo but no spelling mistake The font was a bit too big in my opinion but it was easy on the eyes Grammar was well done and prose had incredibly improved in quality. Loved the finale It was soooo bittersweet What an epic way to end the first instalment Congratulations to Mary Ting on publishing the first gorgeous instalment in The Angel Knights series I can t wait for The Blessed Knights Rating Plan1 star Strongly did not like the book writing and plot was bad Idea of the book was against my liking. 4 star Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. 5 star I LOVED IT I stayed up late until 3 am Author is a genius characters plot idea development EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 READ THIS AGAIN This was really fun to read again I did it because its sequel is out and I wanted to remind myself of all the ins and outs of this story I am really glad I did it was a really fun book to revisit Again another book with no faults. perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare Angels demons and supernatural beings in Hawaii I need the sequel Mary I love you The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 rtc The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 Fantastic supernatural fantasy that will appeal to fans of Richelle Mead Melissa Marr and Michelle Madow. There are a lot of characters in this story which I thought would become confusing but the author makes each one believable and a real true part of the narrative so they fit in without any trouble and feel necessary in relationship to everyone else All of the usual high school problems are complicated by the whirlwind paranormal aspect of their lives much like in Michelle Madow s The Elementals series but this is definitely appealing to adult readers like me as well as teens What a thrilling ride The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 I received a copy of this book for free as part of a blog tour in exchange for my honest opinion A fascinating YA urban fantasy The Chosen Knights captured my attention from the very first page and left me wanting . The first full length book in The Angel Knights series features the children of characters from another Mary Ting series Crossroads Saga I have not yet read that series but I was able to follow along just fine so readers shouldn t worry if they haven t read it Although reading this book has definitely made me want to check out the other series so I can learn about the parents story With that being said I do highly recommend reading the prequel to this book The Angel Knights however as it explains and sets up the series and introduces you to some of the main characters such as Lucia and Zach. Half human and half angel Lucia and Zach have lived in Crossroads the place between Heaven and Earth their entire lives training to become Venators or demon hunters Now along with their uncle they must venture into the human world to investigate the suspicious disappearances of teens in Hawaii As Lucia tries to adjust to life as a human teenager she begins to suspect that her family may not be the only supernatural beings in town They soon find themselves dealing with clues and legends from the past while trying to protect innocents from an evil demon lord Along the way they find allies in surprising places and Lucia finds herself experiencing emotions that are foreign to her like love. Lucia is an interesting character Only half human she is not used to the emotions thoughts and everything else that comes with being a teenager in the human world including falling in love Everything about the human world is new to her and she has to adapt but sometimes doesn t really understand the world and why people acted they way they did She has a kind heart and is at times too trusting which leads to some sticky situations for her and her loved ones She also has the tendency to act before she thinks which is not really a good thing considering the consequences of battling demons This is something that not only frustrated me but also frustrated her Uncle Davin a character that I absolutely adored by the way he s like a big kid But I look forward to watching Lucia grow and learn further as the series continues. In addition to the characters I found the different types of demons as well as the other supernatural elements included in this story quite interesting It wasn t your typical Angels vs Demons good vs evil story and I liked that There was a lot to it including legends different traits distinctions etc The different legends and stories that Lucia and her family come across during their investigations were fascinating From the Knights Templar to legends of the blue moon to the history of the creation of the first demons everything had a reason for being included in the story. The story had a few unexpected and a few expected if I am being honest turns Because the book ended with a bit of a cliffhanger I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment in this series to see what happens next The Chosen Knights Secret Knights 1 The Chosen Knights (Secret Knights #1)Facebook MaryTing in Seoul Korea author Mary Ting is an international bestselling multi gold award winning author Her books span a wide range of genres and her storytelling talents have earned a devoted legion of fans as well as garnered critical praise She is a diverse voice who writes diverse characters often dealing with a catastrophic world Becoming an author happened by chance It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother and inspired by a dream she had in high school After realizing she wanted to become a full time author Mary retired from teaching She also had the privilege of touring with the Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children s chapter book No Bullies Allowed: The characters were phenomenal I felt as if I could connect with them and feel every emotion that flowed off of each page: Fear the demon Embrace the past foresee the future get swallowed by the darkness get encompassed by the purity of love strength hope and the lights of the nights sky: ugh I hate cliffhangers I need The Blessed KnightsThe Blessed Knights like yesterday. 2 star Didn t like it didn t find it interesting or gripping Seemed to drag on to me: 3 star An average book Wasn t bad or good Everything else was well done Original idea..
